Lancaster House welcomes Andy Lemm as General Manager. Andy has bags of vision for the future of the hotel, but he is also returning to a place that is a significant part of his past. 

Lancaster House has always been a special place for me. It was my home for nearly two years and I met Michelle, my wife, here when she was Restaurant & Banqueting Manager.  We married at Lancaster House and so it has been a huge part of my life already. Lancaster House was a great management training ground and prepared me for my first general manager’s position at The Wild Boar, also part of the English Lakes family of hotels.

Horticulturaly speaking, it’s been a pretty good year so far. The spring was mild and relatively frost-free, the summer heralded some great periods of warm, unbroken sunshine, and here now, as the leaves slowly turn into their annual shade of gold, we’ve enjoyed a sublime autumn. The net result of this continual run of fine weather is an autumnal harvest of un-paralleled quality for the Great British Crop.
So, what should we be looking out for on our home-grown Supermarket shelves this month, and what are some of the best dishes to celebrate the depth of flavours in this year’s offerings? (more…)

Naturally, as a Cumbrian-based company, we’re a little biased sometimes celebrating the seasonally changing beauty and countryside of the Lake District. Lancaster House, our hotel in the Lake District also lies just 20 miles from another great National Park, the Yorkshire Dales, and I’ve been out with my family exploring one of the jewels in the Yorkshire crown.
A little under half an hour’s drive from the hotel is the picture-postcard village of Ingleton. Home to many a quaint gift shop, tea room, but also one of the Yorkshire Dales’ most iconic attractions, the famous Waterfalls walk.
