Innovative Made-in-Flowers at The Wild Boar

Wednesday, February 18, 2015 by plusonemanager

Everything to do with weddings at The Wild Boar is woven around the individual needs of the bride and groom to create a truly unique day and happy memories to share with family, friends and future generations. We love to work with individuals and companies who have the same ethos and impeccable standards and who share our passion for bespoke weddings.
Katie Robinson of Made in Flowers took time out on one of her busiest days leading up to Valentine’s Day to drop in to our photo shoot and contribute a stunning bouquet of flowers for our bride.

Tell us about Made in Flowers and how you got into floral design

edits-18-X2I have worked in the floral industry for almost thirteen years. My true love for flowers developed when I was a Saturday girl in a local florists. It soon became clear that I had a skill, which very quickly became a passion. It felt a very natural progression to further my knowledge with a degree in Commercial Flowers Art. This was the first degree of its kind in England and I was delighted to finish with a 2:1 BA Hons.
I have had the privilege of working alongside world class designers such as Per Benjamin and Max van De Sluis, creating innovative designs with a European flare.

How do you go about choosing the wedding flowers you will use?

Every design is unique and special and I like it to reflect not only the overall style of the wedding, but the personality of the couple. That is why I offer a free wedding consultation. Often the bride will have a vague idea of colours or style and that is where I come into my own. Flowers are my passion and genuinely make me happy so I am able to give as much guidance as needed to create something that goes beyond the couple’s expectations for their special day.

“From the initial discussion to the actual wedding day we were impressed with your innovative ideas. The use of colours was exceptional in all the displays and the most important item , the brides bouquet, was stunning.” – Angie Horsburgh

Describe the bouquet that you have brought along today …
edits-19-X2Today I’ve gone for a wild and rustic shower bouquet. Using shades of purples and lilacs, sand colours and shades of ivory. I wanted to reflect the wild country style of The Wild Boar but also inject some colour.

I have used foliage such as Asparagus Ferns, Eucalyptus and Soft Ruscus creates a wild base and then I’ve added some stunning spring blooms to reflect the season – Ranunculus, Hellebores mixed with Memory Land and Quicsand Roses, Forget Me Knots, Clematis, Lisianthus and Thistle.

Is there a particular Wild Boar style?

Most of my Wild Boar brides have gone for wild and rustic in various styles and colours to reflect the season. Rebecca and Jack Married in May last year. Rebecca wanted to stick to an all white colour palette but use a range of seasonal flowers to create a textured effect such as Peonies, Stocks, Lisianthus, Gypsophila, Veronica and Rosemary. The natural backdrop of bluebells speaks for itself!
