The sun shone and it was a beautiful day in Windermere, perfect for the annual Lake District Sheepdog Trials – a great event that English Lakes have sponsored for years. Watching farmers and their 4-legged companions doing their thing and keeping Lake District traditions alive brought back memories of Sunday Tea Time in the late 1970s when we would sit down as a family to watch ‘One Man and His Dog’.
Sheepdog Trials at Hill Farm
The Lake District Sheepdog Trials Association held their 115th Sheepdog Trials at Hill Farm, Ings, just off the A591, on 7th August. English Lakes are proud to be associated with this well run, fun event for locals and tourists alike, showcasing time-honoured skills and traditions.

We arrived at The Wild Boar in the lovely sunshine (my favourite type of weather as I find that the rain spoils my beautiful curly ears) and at Reception all the staff made a fuss of me and said how cute I was, which of course is the truth but I never get tired of hearing it! We were shown to our room by Adam, and it was a doggy dream! In the days leading up to Children’s Hospice Week, 18th – 25th May, it was a privilege to visit two of our local Children’s Hospices. Derian House in Chorley and Eden Valley near Carlisle. These are two of the fifty hospices around the UK providing a lifeline service to the families of around 24,000 children and young people in the country with life shortening conditions.
