This is a whisky that George, our Wild Boar Master of Malt has featured previously, but with the festive season upon us, we bring you once again, Balvenie DoubleWood 12 year old which is dubbed ‘Christmas in a glass’.

The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first-fill European oak sherry cask.
Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings sweetness, depth of flavour and Christmas cake character.
The festive season at The Wild Boar typifies everything that we think of as a traditional Lake District Hotels cosy Christmas retreat. A warm, friendly atmosphere, crackling fires, the best locally sourced produce, mulled wine and mince pies and, of course a huge range of whiskies from around the world.
