Meet Lotti and Tony, two of The Spa at Low Wood Bay Spatenders. Lotti is Lake District born and bred, whilst Tony, originally from Madrid, visited the Lake District for a season and loved it so much he’s been here for six years. They tell us a little about The Spa at Low Wood Bay, what exactly a Spatender does, and their recommended Spa treatments.
Lotti: A Spatender is often the first person that a guest to The Spa will meet. We greet our clients and show them around the facilities. Our aim is to ensure that there is a laid back, unpretentious environment where everybody feels comfortable. We also make sure that The Spa is looking tip top at all times and ensure that the thermal spaces are kept in pristine condition.
Tony: We are always on hand to provide towels, information about The Spa, take drinks orders or lunch requirements. In short, we do anything to make sure visitors to The Spa feel welcomed, relaxed and have a great experience.
Lotti: A swimsuit is the only essential – we provide robes, towels and flip flops.
Tony: For entertainment, I’d recommend bringing a book to read, or their tablet or ‘phone to watch a movie or their favourite series. Or simply sit back in one of our swinging pods and chat to friends, or watch the water sports activities on the lake.
Lottie: All of our thermal spaces are light, yet warm, with an up close view of Lake Windermere, The Langdale Pikes and surrounding mountains.
Tony: It’s a contemporary space with great facilities and the most outstanding views of the lake and our natural environment. Hopefully, a team that make you feel really welcome.
Lotti: The Dry Salt Room featuring two walls of Himalayan Rock Salt. There are loads of researched health benefits of inhaling the salts – detoxifies the body, improved energy levels, balances blood sugar, and can even improve sleep quality.
The Rasul Mud Room is also one of my favourites. It is a traditional Arabian cleansing ritual Our mud room is an indoor recreation of this, with tiled seats and a roof designed to replicate a starry night sky. Just like the Salt Sauna, the Mud Room has benefits through the use of the minerals in the mud – soothes eczema and psoriasis, encourages blood flow to give a healthy complexion, soothes aching muscles and removes toxins from the body.
Tony: Growing up in Spain, swimming was my passion and I’m a qualified Life Guard and swimming instructor. It is perhaps no surprise then that my favourite is the infinity pool. The water temperature is ideal for spending long periods of time lying back and relaxing.
Lotti: I would recommend the Back, Neck and Shoulder massage treatment to loosen any tension in those areas.
And for girls who like to have their nails done but don’t have nail friendly careers/hobbies, I recommend the shellac manicure as it is a durable polish that lasts so much longer than regular nail varnish.
Tony: I’d recommend the ESPA Iconic Triple Treatment. It includes a back exfoliation, a back massage with hot stones, a soothing scalp massage and a personalised express facial. An all-round treatment that makes you feel like new.
