The boats are back in the Marina and the team at Low Wood Watersports is back doing what they love.
Let us introduce you to Klara Ningerova, Office Manager at Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre. A very popular member of the Low Wood Bay family, Klara recently won joint Front of House Team Member of the Year 2017 in our annual English Lakes Awards. As Klara explains, she not only organises the facilities and the team at Watersports, but she has also started to get fully involved in many of the water-based activities.

I am from the Czech Republic and have lived in England for the past 8 years, working for English Lakes for nearly 5 years now. I can hardly believe it, it has gone so fast. I started in my role at the Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre in July 2017.
The atmosphere at Low Wood Watersports is quite unique – somewhere between a completely fun, laid back environment and a serious professional world class resort. It can be really busy over the holiday period especially when the sun is out. Because we all love what we do, the atmosphere is upbeat and positive.
Even though I am more office base, I feel like I am having a great time every day thanks to my supportive manager Paul and our brilliant team.
I have tried many of the sports that Low Wood Bay offers – some of them for the first time. I struggled with Water-skiing but loved wakeboarding. Perhaps I am more confident with wakeboarding as I already snowboard in the winter months. My first experience of Flyboarding was in the middle of February. The water was extremely cold, but I was the happiest person when I got above water level and was able to fly! Paddle boarding and kayaking are also lots of fun and my fiancé Blazej and I enjoy doing both of these together.

Learning to Sail at Low Wood Bay
I will learn to sail this year with the best and funniest teacher, Gary. He is planning to teach me to sail in a dinghy because he tells me that is the way I will gain the most knowledge and experience. Dinghies are small sailing boats which are easier to capsize. I am fairly sure Gary just can’t wait to see me capsize and fall into the water.
Someone once said,
Being a sailor is to participate in that ongoing adventure—to share sailing experience with those that came before, and with those yet to come.
As Office Manager I need to deal with lots enquiries and bookings. Knowing how to sail will help my understanding and enable me to share the experience with our guests before and after they come to Low Wood Watersports Centre. I will also be able to lead better and help the team by understanding their needs at work.
There are many wonderful things about working for English Lakes Hotels, Resorts and Venues. The best thing for me is that I do feel like being part of another family. People genuinely care about each other and even when stressful moments arrive, everyone helps each other through.
