Martha Noble is inspirational in her quest to enable young people with disabilities to enjoy everything she loves about the Lake District. She has set herself the challenge of running the London Marathon in order to raise funds to help make this a possibility for as many children as possible. She tells us a little about the charity she is supporting …
I have always worked with children and young people with disabilities and am currently training to be an Occupational Therapist. My passion is to enable people to be able to achieve their full potential…all while having fun and enjoying life!
The Lake District Calvert Trust are an incredible charity that do both of these things, they offer opportunities for people with disabilities to explore this beautiful (albeit usually inaccessible) place. They provide people with a range of needs the opportunity to come and stay in the Lake District and experience the great outdoors, fell walking, rock climbing, sailing…the list is endless!!! Their holiday centre is fully accessible for all, complete with sensory swimming pool, sensory room, high ropes course and much more!
It costs the Calvert Trust over a million pounds a year to run the centre with £450,000 needing to be raised through fundraising. On April 28th 2019 I will be running the London Marathon for this amazing cause. I am lucky to be able to train in these beautiful surroundings and it only seems fair to give others the opportunity to do the same. Any donation is greatly appreciated!
Our community of Low Wood Bay health club members have so many inspiring stories. Often they use their training and fitness as a way to help others. We wish Martha all the best on 28th April. If you would like to sponsor Martha, there’s still time. Please follow the link.
