Many of us have been affected by cancer, either directly or indirectly, and know how important it is to fund research with the aim of preventing cancer and making treatments more effective. North West Cancer Research is the leading cancer charity in the North West and North Wales, with over 70 years’ experience of fighting the toughest cancers. Mark Haig, Trustee of North West Cancer Research commented,
“Having seen the effect cancer can have on individuals and their families, and with my work as a trustee for North West Cancer Research, I know how important research into cancer treatment is. It can help in aiming to prevent cancers, it can make treatment more effective and can contribute to a better quality of life when living with or beyond cancer”.
Supporting Local Research and Raising Awareness
North West Cancer Research makes a very simple promise – they only support the best local medical research, in order to stop cancer sooner.
The charity has funded over £38 million worth of research since 2000, and have supported hundreds of local clinicians, doctors and students in their research. They are currently funding over 50 research projects across the region.
They are also dedicated to raising awareness of cancer prevention. Over the summer they ran a Skin Cancer Campaign which engaged with the public about sun safety. They secured a prominent position in the windows of a major retailer and also took to the streets of Liverpool giving out free sun cream along with safety guide and UV bands.
