The Starting Point – Lancaster City Museum
The city of Lancaster has a rich ancient history with royal connections. Start the Treasure Trail outside the City Museum and simply follow the detailed directions that lead to clues to puzzles that need to be solved. The trail is signposted through the city and if you get really stuck, you will be given a number to text to request the answer so that nobody need be stumped.
You can take your time, there’s no clock ticking, but the trail is just under 2 miles and it takes around 2 hours to complete.
There’s lots to see and to learn from the places you will discover, but the map also gives some interesting historical facts. Who knew, for example, that Lord Ashton was the 9th richest man in the world at the time and, in 1885, he invited all male adults for ten miles around to breakfast at his place? Over 10,000 accepted!
