Deborah and Duncan’s 1920s-inspired Wedding

Deborah and Duncan’s stunning Art Deco wedding at The Midland is one that we wanted to share with our guests and would-be wedding couples. Congratulations to the happy pair whose love story started with a few impressive dance floor disco moves!

Night Fever Disco Moves

On a night out with mutual friends in February 2011, Duncan spotted Deborah in the County Pub, Lytham St. Annes. As the evening progressed to a local Disco, Deborah was impressed with Duncan’s dance moves.  Numbers were exchanged and several ‘phone calls later from Duncan led to their first date at a local Italian Restaurant – the rest is history…

Palm Tree, Pineapple and Pina Colada Proposal

Deborah’s 40th Birthday found the couple on a beach in Cuba.  Set against a backdrop of palm trees and the Atlantic Ocean, Duncan popped the question and we celebrated with Pina Colada Cocktails served in freshly cut Pineapples!

The Midland – Our Only Choice

We both have a long attachment to The Midland having visited on many occasions.  Loving Art Deco style, the hotel’s history and charm made it our only choice and the perfect venue for our Wedding.

The menu and bespoke Cocktail package that The Midland offered was amazing and complimented our Wedding and venue perfectly.

Bride & Groom’s Outfit

Deborah wore Jenny Packham’s Imari Wedding gown with styling that personifies Art Deco – Champagne Silk Charmeuse with pleating and beading.  The dress was complemented by the Tzarina Headband and original 1920s feather fan sourced from a local antique shop.

Duncan opted for a dapper powder blue Paul Smith suit with complementing sourced Smith pale pink shoes and original 1920’s seahorse cufflinks, bought by Deborah as a Wedding gift.

The Bridesmaids wore pale pink Adrianna Papel beaded gowns with Ivory & Co Headbands and the couple’s little girl, Scarlett, wore a dress hand made by Deborah from vintage French silk. The Art Deco inspired flowers were by Time 4 Flowers and included white anemone’s with black centres; Shirley Temple peonies, soft pink dahlias, astilbe and eucalyptus.

Top to Toe Art Deco Style

Taking our cue from the Hotel’s style we embraced the extravagance of the 1920’s. Guests were welcomed to cocktails on arrival and we dressed the room to look like a 1920’s Speak-Easy.  Decorations included boat champagne glass centre pieces with white ostrich feather plumes and Gatsby style LOVE Letter Prop supplied by The Midland.  Deborah and her father hand-made the individual 1920s style Name Cards with ‘nod to’ each individual guest. The ladies favours were hand-made by Prescott’s – chocolate oysters with edible pearls and the gentleman’s favours were ceramic seahorse stoppers from confetti.com.

Memorable Moments

Almost too many to mention, from the best man’s wonderful speech to the registrar getting the guests to sing happy birthday to Deborah before the couple exchanged their vows.  Finally, our wonderful photographer Martin Crombie who captured our day perfectly and provided us with the most amazing photographs.
