2018 has been a fantastic year in the life of Low Wood Bay resort. There have been lots of exciting additions, changes, and the return of some regular features and events. Here’s a roundup of ten of our favourites…
Newly refurbished individually styled bedrooms that offer everything you would expect from a four star hotel, but there’s lots more choice. With seven categories of room to choose from, including lake view rooms and suites, the Lime and Oak rooms are perfect for something that little bit special!
Norman’s is our new coffee and juice bar situated in light-filled space of The Atrium. There’s a great range of artisan coffee, choice of tea, some delightful sweet treats as well as healthy juices and smoothie options. Spectacular views over the lake make this a perfect place for meeting friends or for having a few quiet moments in contemplation.
Always a spectacular sight, Dragon Bay is a charity event in support of Paddlers for Life cancer survivors. In its third year, there were more teams than ever, but none could beat our Low Wood Bay Vikings who were crowned Dragon Bay Champions! Congratulations to the winners and all those competing.
This year we’ve welcomed large conferences, small business meetings, product launches, training events, exhibitions and banquets. It certainly has been a busy year in our Conference Centre. The Hell Yeah Rally 2018 made an impressive sight as they drove past the Gatehouse. Setting off for their Lake District Tour from North Yorkshire there were twenty-six cars in total on the 4-day rally culminating at the Cumbria International Motor Show. They came from all over UK and Europe, the furthest afield being an R33 Nissan Skyline GTR from The Netherlands.
The team from The Health Club at Low Wood Bay crawled through Mud Moguls, jumped the Human BBQ, faced some overwhelming obstacles, but finished victorious in the 2018 Total Warrior event. Wanting to know where to sign up for the 2019 competition… call Nathan on 015394 39344.
Rebecca and Stevie's Low Wood Bay Wedding
Low Wood Bay continues to be one of the most popular venues in the Lake District for weddings. Our friendly and professional team have had another full year helping couples to start their happy ever after, and create precious memories of their big day. Whether small intimate gatherings, or much larger family events, it has got to be said we LOVE weddings.
Low Wood Watersports was the scene of military action again this year, with WWII vehicles and servicemen and women from the Recovery Centre at Catterick Garrison participating in adventurous water sports activities. The North East Military Vehicle Club brought along their amphibious vehicles which created quite a sight for passers-by.
We are thrilled to introduce The Spa at Low Wood Bay, the newest Lake District Spa with luxury treatments and breath-taking views over Lake Windermere. We’ve created a contemporary, welcoming and unpretentious space for relaxation, quality time with friends, romantic spa breaks, birthday treats and lazy days. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
There’s a great atmosphere and friendly camaraderie around The Health Club at Low Wood Bay. With a huge range of indoor and outdoor classes, a fantastic team of fitness instructors and personal trainers, and a competitive, yet supportive cast of members, we were delighted to be shortlisted for the national Health Club of the Year award. The entire team went to Leicester to hear the results. Although we didn’t scoop first prize this year, we are even more determined to reach the top spot in the country next year.
The magnificent Low Wood Bay Club House opened in November. With spectacular views over Windermere and the Lakeland fells. What a friendly, welcoming and relaxed space!
We wish all our 2018 visitors, guests and suppliers a very Happy New Year. 2019 promises to be just as packed with events and activities. Look forward to welcoming you to Low Wood Bay soon.
