Wonderful Workplace Weddings at Low Wood Bay

Imagine your perfect wedding day. The dream setting – your workplace! The romantic atmosphere set by strip lighting, desks pushed ceremonially to one side, swivel chairs for the guests and the photocopier quietly humming an accompaniment in the corner.

Can’t imagine it? Well when you work for a 4* hotel group, your place of work is generally a little bit more conducive to a little bit of romance and celebration. When the following couples decided to marry at Low Wood Bay, it was no longer a workplace to them but the place they celebrated their dream ‘I do’ moment.

Nevil & Gemma Jeffery – Sept. 2009

We love the hotel so much and it’s where all our ‘work’ family are – we could not think of anything more perfect but to have them all there in some way on our big day!

We loved having the lake frontage for photos, the gorgeous Windermere Restaurant for the wedding breakfast and the private area of the Gallery Lounge and Function Suite for the Evening Reception.

I had such a surprise at the church with the most amazing performance from the Kinder Choir that had me, and most the guests, in tears. They performed again in the evening and we have since had them at the hotel for various events – always a stunning performance.

Nevil and I had the most amazing wedding day, made even more special because we chose to hold it in a place close to our hearts.

Harry & Amy Briggs – April 2012

Our situation was different to others planning their weddings. With an extremely short time frame and being a small and intimate occasion, I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else to host our wedding celebrations. We were overwhelmed by the service which went way above and beyond our expectations. It seemed that everybody contributed towards making it the most special day we could ever have dreamed of. The food was stunning; I wasn’t expecting the room to be decorated, but my colleagues had made it beautiful! A member of staff even lent my brother-in-law some smart shoes as he’d forgotten his!

Luke and Rebecca Cousins – Sept. 2012

When Becca was discussing her wedding plans with her Mum and myself, she just had one question regarding the venue, “where can we have it so Dad doesn’t go into work mode?” We thought long and hard and realised that although the Midland would be a great choice, I would still be ‘on duty’ and certainly not relaxed. I knew straight away that it had to be Low Wood Bay as Gemma and the Team would ensure everything ran smoothly, and make it less of a busman’s holiday for me!

Working at not only Low Wood Bay but within the Wedding Team made it a really easy decision for me. We did look at other venues but constantly compared them to The Gallery Lounge and Windermere Restaurant and nothing came close. The day itself was amazing and it felt like we were celebrating ‘at home’ as the service was so personal for us. In all honesty, I never thought twice about the little things on the day because I trusted Gemma and the team so much. We have even returned to hold our daughter’s christening at the hotel – it is such a special place for us.

Nick & Megan Matthews – August 2014

We couldn’t think of a better place to get married than where we worked. Low Wood is a special place for both us as a couple but also for our families. It had already been the backdrop to many happy moments. We got to share our special day, not just with our close friends and families, but also our extended family of work colleagues and friends. The outstanding service, atmosphere, love and support from everyone who worked on our special days was overwhelming and did cause a few tears on the day and still does! People thought we were a little crazy getting married at our work place but for us it’s a place that’s filled with love and smiles… a place we call home!

Tom & Helen Wilman-Scales – Nov. 2014

I first started working at Low Wood Bay at the tender age of 18 as a Beauty Therapist.  I loved seeing the wedding parties, doing the make-up and pampering and generally being part of the excitement on the morning of the big day. When we got engaged, I told Tom there was no other choice. Low Wood Bay has been such a big part of my life for so long it was the only option in my eyes … fortunately, he agreed! Our Wedding Day so was so relaxed, shared with colleagues that we knew and trusted. It was just perfect in every way.

Low Wood Bay was definitely our first choice when we started to discuss venues. We knew, for definite, that we wanted both the ceremony and reception to be there. My favourite memory of our day was Mety balancing a huge fruit bowl on her head whilst changing into her 2nd wedding dress and then our photographer Lisa trying it! The little things like working our African wedding dancing into the day, arranging time for a dress change and even our wedding co-ordinator helping made it such fun and personal.

We loved our day, and wish we could do it all again. The Low Wood Bay team were epic!
