The Midland Hotel in Morecambe is running a competition to create a new cocktail to help celebrate the town’s 120th anniversary.
Guests are being invited to send in their recipes for either an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink with their favourite ingredients for the chance to win a 2 night break at the hotel. The Midland Hotel Morecambe is helping to bring to bring a touch of 1930s style back to the town, an era of art deco architecture and glamorous cocktail parties. The hotel’s Rotunda Bar currently serves a wide range of cocktails from the Cosmopolitan popularised by Sex in the City to White Russians and the Clockwork Orange.
Katie Price, Midland Bar Manager and resident cocktail expert says:
“Mojitos are our most popular cocktails but a lot of people who first visited the hotel as far back as the thirties and forties ask for old favourites like the Harvey Wallbanger and the Blue Lagoon. Since the hotel reopened last year more and more people have been coming in for cocktails and we now sell over 1,000 a month.”
Once all the entries are in, Katie and Midland Hotel Manager, Matt Stanaway, will choose up to six of the best entries to be included on the cocktail menu throughout November and the winner will be the one that sells the most.
