Designed by Oliver Hill with interior decoration by Eric Gill the hotel has a rich heritage. The Midland has allegedly been a favourite haunt of celebrities such as Coco Chanel, Sir Lawrence Olivier and Noel Coward which only adds to its illustrious history and air of seaside glamour.

The Vintage Festival to visit The Midland for Iconic Anniversary

The Midland is often cited as being one of the most iconic buildings in Britain. And this year, to celebrate its 80th anniversary year the hotel will host a spectacular Vintage celebration.

Chatting with one of our regular guests, Pauleen MacDonald, and enjoying the view from The Midland on a perfectly clear, crisp winter’s morning over Morecambe Bay to the snow covered Lake District mountains in the background, it struck me that Pauleen’s enjoyment of The Midland had nothing to do with the spectacular view. Despite being born almost completely blind, Pauleen leads an active and independent life, traveling regularly from Leeds to Lancaster and Morecambe.
