We love the Lake District and we are always on the lookout for new photography from our guests and visitors to the national park to share and inspire. Artist, J.A.C has taken the search for local photography one step further and is inviting walkers and photographers to share the images they capture.

By using the hashtag #seensend on twitter users can send their images to J.A.C. who will select three that inspire him the most. He will send the winner a copy of the art they have influenced free of charge.

SeenSend rewards people who share wonderful places via social media with art.

I recently took part in #seensend and sent in a photograph taken at sunset from Low Wood Bay. See the results below…

I briefly spoke to J.A.C. to ask him about the work he does. He said “it is difficult for me to see myself as others do. They see me as an artist who has a love of the outdoors. I see myself as a walker with a painting problem.” He adds “it is difficult to walk when you are regularly compelled to stop and paint what you see.” This is how the idea for SeenSend started.

All of the artwork landscapes look like they are oil paintings, which you would see in an art gallery, but J.A.Cs preferred medium is an iPad and an app readily available in the app store; his brushes are his fingers and a stylus. J.A.C is one of many artists trying to spread the word of this new artistic medium.

Many of J.A.C’s work with SeenSend have been focused on the Lake District with art being created from scenes at Skiddaw, Dalehead, Castlerigg and a number from the jetties at Low Wood Bay. It has now inspired him to visit the area with his iPad to capture scenes while out on the Lake District fells.
